Saving Cash on Discounted Restaurant Equipment

by admin on December 15, 2009

When all the paperwork has been settled, the blue prints drawn out and the location set, most restaurateurs now face the problem of purchasing the right restaurant equipment for a reasonable amount of money. Of course, any entrepreneur is going to want to get their money’s worth.

The most obvious first step is to find a supplier that is trustworthy who also provides quality restaurant equipment. Other than this though, it’s a well kept secret that a mix of new and second hand equipment is a great way to stock a restaurant with equipment and still keep the expenditures at a minimum.

The restaurant equipment that any owner will need to buy brand new are the refrigerators and ovens. As in any kitchen, the hardware will be bound to experience abuse from the users because of all the hustle and bustle of the rigorous restaurant routine. Taking this into consideration, it would be unwise to purchase second hand refrigerators and ovens unless they have been barely used.

restaurant equipmentAfter these purchases, it’s normal to feel a little hole being burnt into the restaurant owner’s pockets. However, the restaurateur can take solace in the fact that items such as pots and sheet pans can be bought second hand. Even whisks, ladles and similar restaurant equipment are fine when bought used. The great thing about this method of purchasing discounted restaurant equipment is that the owner will save costs by letting someone else take the initial hit of the costs for new ware.

Even clearance sales are great places to look for some sturdy restaurant equipment. With some time and effort, buyers can come across some great deals for items that can be bought in bulk, such as pans, on a discounted price. Although cheaper prices are bound to appeal to any person starting a restaurant up, some care should still be taken.

Buyers should be wary of letting the words ‘discounted’ or ‘sale’ deter them from checking on the quality of the items in question. When buying second hand, the purchaser should be sure that they can check on the quality of the restaurant equipment before making any final decisions.
